Any Road Legal Mobility Scooter is classed as a class 3 invalid carriage which means it is licensed by the DVLA to travel at a maximum speed of 8mph. Any 8mph scooter will have a switch to limit the speed at 4mph to enable safe use on pavements and in town centres.
